20. December 2018What does a theatre in Krefeld have in common with a hotel in Meerbusch?
Attention, ladies and gentlemen! Now it’s all about the high rhetorical art of skilful transition. Watch out! What do a hotel for sustainable accommodation and a theatre have in common?
Ok, to be honest, nothing at first glance. However, both can be found along a tram line (U 76). And each place is something special in its own way, and then we would have two common denominators. Ok, the rhetoric remains „crooked”. Yes, I admit that. But nevertheless we feel the need to present this small, fine theatre as a “tip for an excursion“. Dead straight forward.
A “stone’s throw” to intelligent theatre entertainment
The KRESCH Theater in the former Heeder factory premises in Krefeld is only a “stone’s throw” away from us, actually even accessible by tram from door to door. Get in at our stop „Forsthaus” and get off at “Krefeld Hauptbahnhof”. Very comfortable with the U 76, without change, and in only 17 minutes.
Thus, it is quite easy to get to an unusual theatre that, definitely being a “children’s and youth theatre”, also offers adult spectators an artistically sophisticated theatre experience. Thematically relevant, entertaining and always surprising. Actually, the KRESCH program ranges from plays for the very youngest spectators (3+) to a program for schoolchildren (10+ to 14+) and evenings, which are also a really good recommendation for adults.
The range stretches from proven, surprisingly interpreted classics to performances that give a commentary to the very latest news and developments. In this theatre season, for example, “Fast Faust” is a highly enjoyable must! Or “Romeo and Juliet”, another all-time classic. And on the other hand, how about something definitely „zeitgeist” between Hashtag and Augmented Reality? “Wasted”? No, definitely not. As “Wasted” is the title of a play that is kind of a retrospective Coming-of-Age story. What has remained of our youth? Three young people have to deal with what it means to be an adult.
Get involved!
The KRESCHtheater stands for discourse, for intellectual discussion. The much-quoted motto „Getting involved is possible” is a seriously meant, highly emphatic invitation. It is all about entering into dialogue, in fact, about participating in the broad participatory offers of the KRESCH Theater. For example, pedagogically accompanied performance visits, workshops and courses for children and adults. Or simply a theatre evening that is highly entertaining when the curtain rises!
And now, last but not least, a tip for an excursion before the Christmas holidays begin: How about “FREISPIELstücke”? The theatre’s improvisational ensemble transforms scenes and sequences from plays that are not in the textbook into something”never-been-before”. Guaranteed. Improvised scenes at the request of the audience, which sometimes develop in undreamt-of directions. As a consequence, in any case they always surprise, not only the audience, but also the players. Because they never really know what they are doing before they acually perform it.
FREISPIELstücke. Imrovisational theatre. Wednesday, December, 19, 2018, 7:00 pm
