Danny Frede. Art Blog Entry with „Cliffhanger“
8. September 2018Danny Frede’s „Robotonism“. Machines taking over. Part 2 of my art blog entry
17. September 2018Connecting dots. No puzzle template, but very surprising!
Do you remember these “number pictures” from primary school or the children’s games and puzzle section of the newspaper? The task is to draw lines from point to point in a template. Some surprising pictures are hidden in these templates. Because in the end, if you have done everything right and the dots are connected, a figure, an animal or an object is created.
At Dusseldorf’s „Kunstpunkte“ („Art Points“) you’ll definitely do everything right. No matter how you connect the dots. And you cannot „do“ all the art points anyway. There’s too many, and anyway, that’s not the point. But what exactly is this art event about?
“Art Points 2018.” Düsseldorf artists open their studios
The “Kunstpunkte” are on the city map where they represent the studios and exhibition venues of Dusseldorf artists. And the annual event of „Open studio doors” has a long tradition. On two weekends you have the opportunity to experience Dusseldorf artists and their works. Right where they are created. Because the artists open their studios for you.
It can’t be done on a weekend. And so on the 1st weekend (September 15/16, 2018) we go to the north of the city, and on the 2nd weekend (Spetember 22/23, 2018) to the south. An interesting extension of the studio program are the „Off-rooms”, which are operated as exhibition venues by the artists themselves. You will be warmly welcomed in these off-rooms already on the Friday evenings before the weekends.
There is something for everyone. Guaranteed. Painting, drawing, sculpture, collage, photography, mixed media….. Have I forgotten something? Probably. Because every genre, every medium is represented with diverse and strong works. Look forward to inspiring outings and insights, interesting encounters with equally interesting people. Go on a discovery tour alone (exciting!) or… make yourself comfortable and simply take the bus. What bus?
No guided bus tour with coffee
If you are now thinking of a dignified coffee trip by bus, then you are completely wrong. Because it gets much better: On a round trip with a vintage coach (and this is an experience in itself!), which takes you to selected “art points”, you get a guided tour „with expert knowledge and insight”. Because the very competent tour guides are artists themselves, they explain a lot on the trip and on site, and answer your questions, they will be your tour guide and partner
I promise you, such an art visit accompanied by an artist is actually “a league in itself”. Because a person who creates art herself or himself also perceives the artistic work of colleagues in a special way. And notices what you may not even notice at first glance. Allow yourself to do so. Have a good time!
