“Plan B” colloquially and generally means an alternative, if the actual plan should not succeed. Therefore it is always good to have a “Plan B” in your pocket.
The new documentary series “plan b”, which ZDF features since October 2017, offers exactly the constructive, solution-oriented view which is needed for the development of a „plan B”. Handy „bits” of about 30 minutes tell different stories and introduce people who are already on their way actually solving a problem. And that is exactly the innovative approach that makes this format instructive in the best possible sense. It certainly makes sense to analyse a problem from different angles, but most of the time we will get further if we take a closer look at the different ways of getting a problem under control. A simple insight (yes, I know, common knowledge, and admittedly a truism), but nevertheless not to be dismissed out of hand.
„plan b” is a really inspiring program. Not only the variety of topics from the “full spectrum of life”, stories about society, economy, politics, environment, but moreover the positive approach and broader perspective are a pleasure to watch. By far you can see more. How do different people in different countries deal with the same problems? A look beyond the horizon leads to a (yes!) Comforting realization: the world is full of ideas.
For example, the series “Fair instead of Cheap” deals with the interaction of product and price using the example of our food. Just imagine, you determine the price of your food. How much should milk cost, for example? A few mouse clicks decide: Can the cow on the meadow? And the farmer on vacation? Yes! That costs a few cents more.
It already exists in France. “C’est qui le patron?” is the name of the initiative. Who is the boss here? No, not the French edition of the US sitcom in the 1980s, but a bold model for fair prices. On the website, consumers vote on milk and pizza prices. Many like to pay a little more for happy cows, healthy milk and farmers who can live off their jobs. Consumers are therefore actively taking responsibility for those who produce their food, and whose existence is always threatened by low prices.
plan b is “good for the pear”, formulated the transmitter. Right! The series is broadcast on Saturdays at 17:35, but can also be found in the ZDF media center: plan b
